Our dream was to have a snowy, winter wedding in Colorado, yet we knew an outdoor wedding ceremony in December could be difficult to coordinate. After a year of planning with the most incredible team (who we now consider our lifelong friends), we were blessed with the most beautiful, snowy backdrop at the base of Vail Mountain. It was truly breathtaking to walk down the aisle to the stillness and calmness only the mountains, soft snow, and a rosy alpenglow can bring. Thinking back on that moment brings back all the best emotions of the day.
One of our favorite moments (outside of our ‘I-do’s) included our first look. It was important for us to have a few moments with each other before the ceremony, and it felt so special to be able to share that time together. We had so much fun taking pictures, and even stepped into a snow drift (or two) which provided for the best pictures! We also opted for sharing personal vows, which added some happy tears and laughs for us, our families and friends. The ceremony was then followed by a celebratory cocktail hour at The Express Lift and a gondola ride up to The 10th for the reception. What was an unexpected surprise that was good? Seeing both The Express Lift (ceremony) and The 10th (reception) fully decorated was even more beautiful than we could have envisioned. While we have been to Vail many times, we typically frequent The Express Lift and The 10th as skiers taking a break or coming off the mountain for the day. Seeing everything we had discussed, picked, and planned over the course of a year was such a beautiful surprise.
If we could do it all over again, we would not change a thing! Anything notable otherwise you would like to mention. We live in Atlanta and chose Vail as our wedding destination for many reasons – we love to ski, we love the beauty and peace of the mountains, and we love the ambiance of the village. We had many ideas in mind for our ceremony and reception. Our wedding planner, Jennifer Pletcher with Gemini Event Planning, was truly amazing to work with. Choosing Jennifer as our wedding planner was the best decision we made. She helped us assemble the “dream team” of vendors – from décor, flowers, photography, videography, music. Jennifer the Gemini team, and all of our vendors ensured that our intimate, destination, snowy, on-mountain wedding dreams came true!
